POKOTABI / PLACES WORTH A DETOUR
高井戸せんべい こがね堂
Kogane-dō offers seaweed-wrapped senbei, plus a soft salad cracker praised for its satisfying thickness, crisp texture and balanced saltiness. Arare and sugar-coated senbei round out the selection.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
For a generous wrap of seaweed, Kogane-dō’s nori senbei is one to consider. One diner also enjoyed the isomaki senbei. Classic flavours are easy to start with: compare one with a soy-sauce senbei, or choose seaweed for your next cracker.
Those after a lighter-textured cracker might try the Soft Salad senbei. A customer singled out its just-right thickness, crispness and balance of salt, and said they would like to try the sweet-and-savoury amakara sen next. After a salty bite, it could be fun to explore sweeter or sugar-coated flavours.
The menu includes Takaido senbei Edo te-yaki, a Nana-aji assortment, Kozakura arare, Shinagawa-maki and matcha arare. Among the seasonal offerings, some customers look forward to the hand-baked hina-arare, available from around 2月; one described it as light enough to melt softly in the mouth. If you come across mame-okaki, picking some up is part of the pleasure, too. This rice-cracker shop has treats to enjoy a little at a time at home, as well as options to consider when choosing a gift.
